CRYSTAL CITY, MB – June 5, 2025 – PhiBer Manufacturing Inc., a leading Canadian manufacturer of agricultural equipment, has officially broken ground on a significant new expansion project in Crystal City, Manitoba. The construction of a new 60,000-square-foot production facility marks a major milestone in the company’s commitment to growing its in-house manufacturing capabilities, supporting rural job creation, and meeting rising global demand for Canadian-made agricultural solutions.
An official sod-turning ceremony was held at the Crystal City headquarters to commemorate the start of construction. Attendees included company leadership, staff, local officials, and community members, all gathered to celebrate this forward-looking investment in the region’s economic future.
“Our success has always come from listening to farmers, solving practical problems, and adapting to changing circumstances,” said Derek Friesen, President of PhiBer Manufacturing. “Since the company was founded in 1996 by my father Phil and Harv Bergen, we’ve navigated many challenges—economic downturns, BSE, droughts—and we’ve always pushed forward. This new facility will help us grow stronger and smarter while keeping our operations rooted right here in rural Canada.”

The new facility will support increased production volume, more efficient assembly lines, space for product development and testing, and the addition of skilled manufacturing jobs in Southern Manitoba. By expanding its physical footprint, PhiBer will enhance its control over the supply chain, improve lead times, and further solidify its reputation for producing reliable, innovative equipment tailored to modern farming.
PhiBer, originally launched as an on-farm innovation project, has grown into a respected name in agriculture equipment manufacturing. From hay and forage handling systems to precision tools, the company’s products are now used by farmers across North America and in select international markets.
“This isn’t just about increasing our capacity—it’s about showing that world-class manufacturing can thrive in rural Manitoba,” said Friesen. “We’re not outsourcing. We’re building right here at home.”
Despite economic uncertainty, rising tariffs, and supply chain pressures, PhiBer remains committed to Canadian manufacturing investment. The company continues to develop new products, expand global distribution, and provide career opportunities in the local community.
The project reinforces PhiBer’s position as a leader in innovation in agriculture, while also boosting the local economy through job creation, infrastructure improvement, and long-term sustainability.
