Crystal City, Manitoba – August 28, 2025

PhiBer Manufacturing Inc. is proud to announce that it has been selected for funding through the Government of Canada’s PrairiesCan Business Scale-up and Productivity (BSP) program, which supports high-growth companies across the Prairie provinces.

This federal investment is helping PhiBer expand its advanced manufacturing capacity, accelerate the adoption of agtech innovations, and create more than 80 new jobs in rural Manitoba.

“The funding we received from PrairiesCan has enabled us to accelerate PhiBer’s growth in many ways,” said Derek Friesen, CEO of PhiBer Manufacturing.
“We shortened our timeline on the acquisition of advanced manufacturing equipment, brought more production in-house, and expanded our ability to support Canadian farmers — all while creating new revenue streams and jobs in our community.”

As part of the funding announcement, The Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister for PrairiesCan, emphasized the government’s commitment to growing Manitoba’s manufacturing sector, stating:

“By supporting innovative companies like PhiBer, we’re helping to create high-quality jobs and strengthen local economies across the Prairies.”

Driving Innovation in Canadian Ag Manufacturing

As part of a 60,000 sq. ft. expansion at its Crystal City facility, PhiBer is investing in next-generation production systems and sustainable infrastructure. Current developments include:

  • Canada’s largest roto-moulding equipment to produce plastic tanks in-house

  • In-house 3D printing for parts and tools

  • AI-integrated one-piece flow systems for efficient, high-precision manufacturing

  • Energy capture and recycling systems designed by PhiBer engineers and local contractors

These upgrades support PhiBer’s mission to build smarter equipment while maintaining its strong commitment to sustainability and quality control.

Creating Jobs and Opportunities in Rural Manitoba

Over the next three years, PhiBer plans to hire:

  • 20+ highly skilled workers in engineering, robotics, and advanced operations

  • 60+ additional team members supported by the company’s internal training programs

“Training has always been a top priority,” said Friesen.
“We’re building more than just machines — we’re building people, skills, and strong rural communities.”

Rooted in Agriculture

Founded in 1996, PhiBer Manufacturing began with a farmer’s problem and a family’s innovation. Today, its equipment is trusted by farmers across North America — from sprayer tenders and balers to drone carriers and land management tools — helping operations run smarter, faster, and more sustainably.

PhiBer thanks Minister Eleanor Olszewski and Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan) for their continued support of innovation and manufacturing growth in the Prairie provinces.
